In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions and carry out the decision-makings of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, on May 5 the National Health Commission held a national video conference on epidemic prevention and control in COVID-19. The deployment stressed we should do a good job in epidemic prevention and control without relaxation , and resolutely consolidated and expanded the effectiveness of epidemic prevention and control. Ma Xiaowei, director of the National Health  Commission, and Wang Hesheng, deputy director of the National Health Commission and director of the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, attended the meeting. 

The meeting pointed out that the current situation of epidemic prevention and control is still serious and complex, the risk of importation of the epidemic has increased, the risk of introduction of mutant strains into China should not be ignored. We should always tighten the string of epidemic prevention and control put epidemic prevention and control in a prominent position, further strengthen the joint prevention and control of inbound personnel, inbound personnel isolation observation and nucleic acid testing, prevention and control of imported goods, monitoring of mutated viruses capacity building at border crossings and other “external prevention and control” measures. The government has also further consolidated the “preventing the re-outbreak of COVID-19” measures such as early detection and reporting prevention and control of key aspects of the epidemic, emergency handling of aggregated epidemics, and healthy behavioral habits, and do a good job in epidemic prevention and control.

The meeting stressed that it is necessary to implement the political responsibility for epidemic prevention and control without compromise, accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination, and

meet the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party with excellent results.
